Overview

The Business Analyst performs detailed utility billing analysis on various client portfolios to ensure optimal performance of clients’ billing programs.  As such, the Business Analyst is required to be an expert in analyzing billing methodologies, regulations and related billing best practices to establish and maintain an optimum client billing program that meets clients’ goals while working within the guidelines of regulatory and lease requirements.  This position bridges the gap between legal risk analysis, client communication, and technical implementation, ensuring accurate billing configurations and identifying opportunities for utility cost recovery. 

Responsibilities

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Project Manage, oversee progress and deliver approximately 50 risk and recovery assessments per month, including client-facing presentations. 
  • Analyze utility billing setups for multifamily assets; identify research and document anomalies and make recommendations based on findings and best practices 
  • Communicate risk and recovery findings to clients and guide them through decision-making processes. 
  • Conduct recovery analyses to identify additional revenue opportunities for clients. 
  • Serve as a liaison between clients, legal, and implementation teams to ensure seamless communication and execution. 
  • Work with the Compliance Manager to monitor, maintain and update (as needed) billing methods in accordance with compliance directives and guidelines 
  • Translate client decisions into technical setup instructions for internal implementation teams. 
  • Perform audits pertaining to department processes for accuracy and timeliness 
  • Provide support in client calls for Account Management as needed 
  • Conduct Quarterly trainings with internal Compliance Analysts Quality Check Compliance Analyst work product to identify training opportunities 

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:  

  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Advanced degree preferred 
  • Minimum of 5 years industry experience in Asset Management, Utility Billing or Operations 

 

REQUIRED SOFT SKILLS 

  • Strong written and verbal communication as well as presentation skills 
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent critical thinker while being detail oriented.  
  • Adept at and unafraid of having difficult conversations. Strong at conflict resolution.  
  • Project Management adept at moving work through a queue 
  • Ability to multi-task and juggle various clients simultaneously 
  • Ability to adapt to change and work well in a dynamic environment 
  • Ability to work outside normal business hours at times depending upon workload  
  • Ability to travel occasionally, as needed 

 

REQUIRED HARD SKILLS:  

  • Intermediate to Advanced use of Microsoft 365 Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)  
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce  
  • Technical proficiency to learn proprietary billing software and implementation tools.  

Performance Metrics 

  • Timely delivery of risk and recovery assessments. 
  • Reduction of legal and financial risk for RealPage and clients. 
  • Identification and recommendation of utility recovery opportunities.

Pay Range

USD $85,200.00 - USD $145,200.00 /Yr.
