Overview

The Manager, Smart Devices & Sustainability Solutions leads a growing suite of services leveraging smart devices (e.g., IoT cameras, sensors, and metering technologies) to drive operational performance, reduce environmental impact, and deliver measurable ROI for clients. This role will initially focus on scaling RealPage’s Smart Waste offering, including device-enabled verification, contamination detection, and service optimization. You will also serve as a key voice of the customer—translating client needs into actionable insights that inform product development, service enhancements, and platform scalability across RealPage Sustainability Services.

 

This leadership role will also have direct input on the direction of the future of RealPage’s sustainability services platform, proactively identifying opportunities for new & enhanced opportunities to drive value to our customers. This role will demand the ability to nimbly jump from a client-facing scorecard review to a team sales call, to navigating the increasingly nuanced & complex world of regulations, sustainability reporting frameworks, and more. 

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Strategic
    • Oversight Lead and manage a high-performing team of data analysts to deliver timely and accurate consumption and spend data.
    • Manage a team of analysts, providing day-to-day guidance, prioritization, quality oversight, and coaching to ensure timely, accurate, and actionable work products. Support analyst development through regular feedback, performance management, and growth planning.
  • Oversee team workflow, set priorities, and ensure project milestones and reporting deadlines are met. • Develop & lead team strategy 
    • Lead on software enhancement & development needs & opportunities with appropriate RealPage teams
    • Identify & present value-add opportunities to broaden sustainability services & RUSM (RealPage Utility and Sustainability Management product family) leadership and revenue
  • Foster a high-performing, collaborative team culture centered on data integrity and operational excellence.
    • Manage relationships & lead collaborative efforts with 3rd Party Partner(s) & network of service providers to ensure quality and scalability 
    • Understand work of parallel sustainability services teams & share best practices on tools, data assurance, etc.
  • Serve as a consultative advisor to clients, leading discovery discussions to identify operational and sustainability needs.
  • Translate client insights into product and service enhancement recommendations for RealPage product and engineering teams.
  • Liaise regularly with other RP teams, prospects, regulatory bodies, financial institutions, and others
    • Regularly initiate and lead engagements with public regulatory agencies on understanding nuances of waste reporting data requirements 
    • Support benchmarking disclosure & compliance including GRESB and other ESG frameworks.
  • Oversee delivery of smart-device-enabled programs, with an initial focus on Smart Waste solutions.
  • Data Benchmarking & Performance Management
    • Oversee data collection, normalization, and analysis across diverse community types and regions to support benchmarking and performance optimization. 
      • Liaise regularly with RealPage teams processing & receiving said data, included but not limited to RUM Utility Management, Simple Bills, Smart Building, and more
      • Lead on strategy for incorporating new data streams
    • Manage data benchmarking tools such as ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager and enterprise systems
    • Monitor and aid in client reporting related to building-level and portfolio-level waste data o
      • Support ad hoc client requests as requested/directed
  • Regulatory & ESG Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with local and state disclosure ordinances  
    • Lead waste and energy efficiency project data collection for GRESB and other voluntary ESG frameworks.
      • Serve in internal & external advisory role on newly introduced & upcoming regulations
    • Monitor emerging regulations and adjust internal processes and reporting tools accordingly.
      • Stay abreast of upcoming regulations to ensure readiness of clients, team, and other relevant RP RealPage teams
      • Understand compliance thresholds and processes, including exemptions
      • Identify & establish relationships w/ POCs Points of Contact at regulatory agencies and supporting organizations
    • Maintain auditable documentation to support third-party verification, regulatory filings, and ESG disclosures.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across Sustainability. Utility Management, Solution Account Managers, Sales and more to gather market data and implement performance improvements.
    • Communicate performance metrics, compliance risks, and efficiency opportunities in client-facing reports & forums through tools including but not limited to dashboards, reports, etc.
    • Represent the organization in client and prospect-facing meetings on waste hauling industry o
      • Identify & lead blog posts, webinars, and other externally facing opportunities to showcase RealPage Smart Devices services capabilities & thought leadership
      • Liaise with RP RealPage & client vendors & third parties on data exchange in support of audits, capital improvements, etc.
      • Advise on best practices across the full asset life cycle, from construction and/or acquisition through disposition
  • Continuous Improvement & Best Practices 
    • Implement process improvements in data accuracy, quality assurance, and reporting automation.
    • Drive internal initiatives to identify outliers, performance leaders, and opportunities for investment.
    • Promote best practices in data management and regulatory preparedness across the organization. 

Qualifications

Desired:

  • 5-10+ years in client-facing role w/ team leadership experience
  • Multifamily/rental housing experience strongly preferred but not required
  • Leadership experience; ideally including remote environment
  • TRUE Advisor certification preferred but not required
  • Experience in sustainability operations of commercial and/or multifamily buildings, with experience leading complex waste programs

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Deep knowledge of US EPA ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager
  • Familiarity with reporting frameworks such as GRESB, CDP, CRSD, etc.
  • Software/tools: MS Office Suite, PowerBI, AI (CoPilot, ChatGPT, etc.)
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and “get it done” attitude
  • Occasional travel opportunities for client-facing engagements & role-related conferences
  • FT Position; Standard Work Week M-F

May be required to lift or move 10+ pounds. 

Pay Range

USD $77,700.00 - USD $132,300.00 /Yr.
