Overview

We are looking for a Director of Fintech Product & Operations to lead key parts of our financial services product portfolio. This role is responsible for shaping and delivering payment and embedded finance capabilities that support growth, improve reliability, and enhance the customer experience.

You will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Finance, Compliance, and external providers to evolve our payments ecosystem—from foundational transaction flows to higher‑value financial services. This is a hands‑on leadership role focused on execution, optimization, and scaling well‑designed fintech products.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

1. Product & Commercial Enablement

  • Product Performance Ownership: Own and improve core performance metrics for financial products, including adoption, take rate improvement, authorization health, and contribution to revenue growth.
  • Planning & Forecast Support: Partner with Finance to inform monthly and quarterly forecasts by providing product insights, trend analysis, and seasonality considerations.
  • Pricing & Packaging Input: Collaborate with Product Marketing to refine pricing, packaging, and payment experiences that balance customer experience with business outcomes.
  • Incremental Revenue Initiatives: Support the evaluation and rollout of adjacent fintech capabilities (e.g., enhanced payments, value‑added services, early embedded finance use cases).

2. Payments Platforms & Operational Excellence

  • Processor & Partner Collaboration: Serve as the day‑to‑day product lead for key payment and banking partners (e.g., processors, networks, sponsor banks), working within established vendor frameworks and SLAs.
  • Flow & Cost Optimization: Partner with Engineering to analyze payment flows, identify opportunities to improve authorization rates, reduce failures, and manage transaction costs.
  • Operational Readiness: Work with incident‑management and support teams to ensure payment‑specific scenarios are understood, documented, and handled efficiently when issues arise.

3. Product Roadmap & Delivery

  • Roadmap Development: Define and maintain the financial services roadmap for your domain, ensuring alignment with broader product strategy and engineering capacity.
  • Internal Tools & Enablement: Help prioritize and deliver internal tools that support dispute resolution, chargebacks, reconciliation, and reporting (e.g., 1099‑K workflows).
  • Cross‑Functional Launches: Partner with Go‑to‑Market teams to support successful launches, documentation, and enablement for financial products.

4. Risk Awareness, Compliance & Insights

  • Risk & Fraud Partnership: Collaborate with Compliance and Risk teams to incorporate fraud prevention, controls, and monitoring into product design.
  • Regulatory Consideration: Ensure product requirements reflect regulatory expectations while minimizing unnecessary customer friction.
  • Data‑Informed Decisions: Use reporting, dashboards, and ad‑hoc analysis to identify trends in transaction success, failures, and customer behavior.
  • Issue Identification & Follow‑Up: Surface emerging risks or performance gaps with clear context and recommended product or process improvements.

5. Team Leadership & Growth

  • People Leadership: Lead and mentor Product Managers working on payments and fintech capabilities.
  • Execution Focus: Help teams prioritize effectively and deliver consistently, partnering closely with Engineering and Design.
  • Product Craft: Coach PMs on working within fintech constraints while still delivering valuable, user‑centric solutions.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree a plus.

Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in Product Management, Payments, or Fintech‑adjacent roles.
  • 2+ years in a people‑leadership role (e.g., managing PMs or leading complex initiatives).
  • Experience launching and iterating on financial or transaction‑based products within a technology company.
  • Familiarity working with payment processors, banking partners, or regulated environments.

Skills & Capabilities

Required

  • Payments Fundamentals: Working knowledge of US payment rails (ACH, Card, RTP, Wires) and transaction lifecycles.
  • Product Translation: Ability to translate technical constraints (e.g., settlement timing, ledger behavior, APIs) into clear product requirements.
  • Execution‑Oriented Thinking: Comfortable balancing near‑term fixes with medium‑term roadmap improvements.
  • Data Fluency: Ability to use metrics and analysis to support decisions; SQL experience preferred but not required.
  • Collaboration: Strong cross‑functional partner who can align Product, Engineering, Finance, and Compliance.

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to fraud tooling, disputes, or reconciliation workflows.
  • Experience supporting revenue‑generating platforms or usage‑based products.
  • Familiarity with fintech compliance concepts (KYC/AML, OFAC), with support from specialist teams.

Travel

  • Occasional travel (approx. 10–15%) for partner meetings or team events.
