Overview

To support the continued growth of WhiteSky Communications, the Integration or NOC team is seeking a Network Engineer 3 who will focus on the integration and optimization of network products and services, serve as an escalation point for junior engineers, and resolve the most complex technical issues to ensure optimal network performance and reliability.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex network projects: Lead activations integrating new technologies or vendors (e.g., GPON OLTs, new Wi-Fi vendors or technologies) and oversee large-scale maintenance initiatives.
  • Resolve critical network issues: Serve as the escalation point for the most complex performance problems, providing root-cause analysis and action plans.
  • Turn up and optimize advanced circuits: Activate, test, and troubleshoot circuits and failover for (e.g., EPL, DIA, Wavelength) for major properties, ensuring high availability.
  • Lead documentation efforts: Write comprehensive knowledge-base articles, configuration templates, and guides for team use, documenting design changes.
  • Coordinate cross-functional efforts: Drive collaboration with property owners, vendors, and senior stakeholders to deliver high-quality network solutions.
  • Mentor team members: Guide Level 1 and 2 engineers on activations, troubleshooting, and best practices, fostering skill development.
  • Develop automation solutions: Lead the creation and optimization of scripts and processes (e.g., automating large deployments), improving network efficiency.
  • Interact with senior management: Engage with key customers or leadership to align projects (e.g., Wi-Fi designs for complex MDUs) with organizational goals.
  • Design network solutions: Create and troubleshoot Internet/Wi-Fi designs and bills-of-materials for large properties, supporting both pre- and post-deployment phases.
  • Drive change management: Oversee after-hours changes (e.g., circuit upgrades, firmware updates), peer reviewing and implementing with minimal guidance.

 

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree and two years related experience or Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related field and four years of experience within a service provider or network engineering team. Or Associate’s Degree and six years of experience. Or eight years of experience within a service provider or network engineering team.
  • Must hold at least three associate-level certifications (e.g., CCNA, JNCIA, CWNA, MTCNA/RE, Network+, Python PCAP) or one professional-level certification (e.g., CCNP, JNCIP), or demonstrate equivalent expertise.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES 

 

Required:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in Cisco, Juniper, or MikroTik RouterOS.
  • Apply knowledge of wired Ethernet LANs, wireless LANs (Wi-Fi), and P2P/P2MP microwave wireless solutions, including Active Ethernet and xPON.
  • Configure and manage data network elements such as IP routers, Ethernet switches, and firewalls.
  • Utilize IPv4 and IPv6 network technologies (IP addressing with CIDR, VLSM, HEX), ARP, DHCPv6, and SLAAC.
  • Implement Layer-2 network technologies, including Ethernet LAN/MAN, IEEE standards (802.3xx), and 802.1q VLAN tagging.
  • Manage routing protocols such as BGP.
  • Utilize Wireshark and other packet capture tools for debugging.
  • Leverage knowledge of IEEE 802.11 wireless standards (e.g., b/g/n/ac/ax) and security protocols.
  • Deploy and debug network automation with Python or Ansible.
  • Demonstrate above-average problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Exhibit excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.

The employee must have the ability to operate a personal computer and express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word. May be required to sit and/or stand for long periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. May be required to lift or move 40+ pounds.

Pay Range

USD $85,200.00 - USD $145,200.00 /Yr.
